In the Room
Makapa Lodge is an awesome place to relax and enjoy the nature I was blown away by the scenery we took lots of pictures. We were in "The Nest" as it was self catering and we prefered to make a braai outside the cottage as we love the outdoors and nature. It is a nice place to relax for couples, a breakaway holiday or just to spend quality time with your famliy as there are lots of space for the kids to play. It was my partner's birthday and I came across Makapa Lodge on the internet thought this would be a nice birthday present for him as he loves the outdoors he was blown away and he told me this was his best birthday present and he cant stop talking about it. Our nest was so cosy, clean and comfortable and it had everything we needed and much more. We also had a magnificient view from our cottage. We were very impressed with the place. I will definitley go back there again and I will recommend Makapa Lodge to anyone as we had a nice time and we had beautiful weather. Ian and Margarat were very friendly and they are a lovely couple they really have a gold mine as Makapa lodge is the best place we have ever been too! Keep up the good work!
Very nice hosts and eager to talk and help if needed. Very secure location in a beautiful area. The Private cottage was like home away from home.
If They had Wifi in the cottage it would be superb, but they did allow me to get online from the main house.
The silence, and the bed!
We would have liked to have made our own braai one evening.
Everything!! The host & hostess were so friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The room had everything we needed and was very comfortable, clean and appealing. The garden was beautiful. The location was perfect.
Relaxing surroundings. Very friendly, hospitable hosts. Private and quiet.
Poor TV viewing (tiny box TV), no DSTV, blow heater- very dry, not enough hot water for enjoyable bath.
Charming and helpful owners. WiFi on the verando of owner's house. Suficiently equipped kitchen. Fantastic view from the cottage.
Beautiful indigenous garden and the view
Thought the breakfast was not up to scratch - for r60 a head, expected better.
Very friendly and accommodating owners. Amazing views, very well placed to access all the areas we wanted to visit, which included the stunning beaches and breathtaking hiking in the hills and mountains that surround the area.
Friendly reception, host and hostess do their outstanding to serve their guests, but take note of the other comments.
For a 4 star B&B this lodge failed an air-conditioning and the room was very cluttered with furniture. Actually the star rating and the accomodation price are not justified by the offered space and amenities.
We only stayed at Makapa for one night. The couple who owns the place are very nice and helpful. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it to all who which to have a nice breakaway and central location to visit the area.
For our purpose Makapa was ideally situated. It is however far from the tourist attractions which include the beach, Simon's Town, Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek. If you do not have a car available it can pose a problem. The Birds's nest, although very clean and ideally located on the premises, could do with a revamp.
The location is perfect with easy reach to Atlantic and Indian coasts, Cape Point and Cape town. Nicely decorated and clean suites. Fantastic view of the Atlantic coast from the breakfast room. Very friendly owners who make you feel as if you are staying with freinds and do give you good advice as for where to go and what to see, especially if you want something less travelled.
I would suggest improving the strength of the WiFi signal - it was a bit too weak in the rooms. But, after all, it is only important for Internet addicts like us, there are plenty of other things to do.
the view and privacy is good
